Like father, like son -- following in the footsteps of his dad, a star running back for the Tigers in the '90s and three-time pro bowler in the league, Stephen Davis Jr. gave his verbal commitment to play for Gus Malzahn and the Auburn Tigers today. According to 247sports, Davis told Malzahn of his decision during a visit to the Plains last Sunday, but wanted to run things by his mother back in South Carolina first.
The 4-star junior from Irmo (SC) chose Auburn over the hometown Gamecocks of South Carolina.
"I didn't commit because my dad went there," Davis said. "I think it was the right thing to do. I had a great time there. It was a great experience."
Stephen Davis Jr. is Auburn's fourth commitment for the 2016 class, as he joins WR Nate Craig (5*), TE Landon Rice (3*), and APB Jalin Buie (3*).
Auburn has recruited Davis to play safety for the Tigers.
